Last night I was adding my new Tunze Comline DOC Protein Skimmer 9004 to my Solana tank (more on the skimmer later) when I spotted one of my favorite critters in my nano tank and I took this picture, he is looking great!

Blue Knuckle Hermit Crab, Electric Blue Hermit Crab, Electric Leg Hermit Crab, Halloween Hermit Crab
Sexing:
Unknown
Tank compatibility:
Can be aggressive towards snails and other crabs.
Diet:
Part of the clean-up crew, it will eat many kinds of algae and sift the sand. Its diet can be supplemented with dried seaweed.
Feeding regime:
Scavenger, opportunistic feeder; will eat when fish are fed; can be fed singly if hosted in a smaller aquarium with little or no algae
Environment Specifics:
Needs an SG of 1.023-1.025.
Identification:
Blue legs striped with black bands. Long eye stalks, lower half blue, upper half orange. Bright orange antennae. A colour variant of this species can be found in the Hawaiian Islands. It sports black and orange legs instead of the normal black and blue legs. This variation is commonly known as the “Halloween Hermit”.
